Lawrence L. “Larry” Switala, 72, of Parsonville died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 30, 1941 in Morann, a son of the late John and Rose (Coleman) Switala.
He was a parishioner of the St. Barbara’s National Catholic Church, Houtzdale. He retired as a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic. Â He enjoyed working on cars and trucks.
On Nov. 3, 1973, at Osceola Mills, he married Hermance M. (Lefebvre) Switala, who preceded him in death on March 27, 2014.
He’ survived by a daughter, Tammy (Robert) Ludwig of Lockport, NY; four step-children, Barbara “Bea” (John) Davis of Smithmill; Bob (Sandy) Dillen and Cindy (Denny) Moore, both of Houtzdale, and Jim (Carol) Dillen of Drifting; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
He’s also survived by three brothers, William “Billy” (Wanda) Switala, John Switala and Richard “Rick” (Terri) Switala, all Lockport, NY; a special aunt, Doris Coleman of Philipsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Roseanne Martin, Carol Witkop and Patty Coleman and two step-sons, Pete and Denny Dillen.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Thursday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Fr. Scott J. Lill officiating. Burial will follow in St. Barbara’s National Catholic Cemetery, Ramey.
