REYNOLDSVILLE – A couple students from Jeff Tech’s CTE Building Trades program have learned how to build woodenware for an area beekeeper.
Two sophomores, Collin Whitehouse and Ben Whaley, have been working for the past four months to build beehive equipment for honey bees under the direction and supervision of instructor, David Rishell.
In addition to learning carpentry, cabinetry and painting skills, students needed to employ diagram reading, mathematics and precise measuring for this project.
Robert Michael approached Rishell last fall to determine if his students would be interested in building honey bee equipment. Both students volunteered to complete the project.
Michael is an area beekeeper and member of the Jefferson County Beekeepers Association. He supplied all materials needed for project.
