DUBOIS – During the public comment at Monday’s Sandy Township meeting, Supervisor Dave Sylvis wanted to address rumors about its fire departments.
According to him, the township neither plans to close the Sabula nor the Treasure Lake fire departments. However, both are hurting for volunteers, he said.
Also, Pamela August mentioned she had registered with the Great American Cleanup. She registered for May 3 with a rain date being set for the day after.
August said she would get free garbage bags, gloves, etc. for the cleanup. Volunteers would be needed from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. “At this point, I am thinking it would be a cleanup of paper, trash . . .,” said August, adding that it would not include any heavy items.
The cleanup would start near the Sandy Club and work its way down the stream to the Route 119/219 intersection.
