Charles “Charlie” Toda, 93, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 13, 1921 in Sharon, he was the son of the late Aurel and Parascheva (Barbat) Toda.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II.
He married Mary (Buchosky) Toda. She survives.
He retired as a high school teacher from Liberty High School in Ohio after 33 years of service.
He was an avid golfer all his life, playing competitively until age 88. He had 13 holes in one during his years of tournament play. He was a member of both the DuBois Country Club and the Treasure Lake Golf Course. He was an avid bowler and a pigeon fancier, raising and breeding pigeons.
He’s survived by one daughter, Niki Toda Krause and her husband, Bill of Sagamore Hills, Ohio and two grandchildren, Kathryn Krause and Mitchell Krause.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
A private family viewing and funeral service will be held at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
