Theresa T. Swansegar, 83, of Clearfield and formerly of Philipsburg, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late August “Gus” and Anna (Yasovsky) Tekely born March 27, 1931 in Philipsburg.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield and was a Third Order Carmelite nun with the Order of Our Lady of Loretto.
She was also a volunteer with Clearfield Foundation for Health/Hospice, Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield Hospital and ministry visitations.
She worked as a paralegal for various attorneys in Clearfield County and was lastly employed as an administrative assistant with The Meadows in Centre Hall until her retirement. She was a 1949 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Tekely and Betty Branish and three brothers, Gust, Joe and Ed Tekely.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Alberts and her husband, Dan of Connelsville, Diane Capatch and her husband, Kevin of Lewisburg, Lisa Ryver of Morrisdale and Lynne Maurer and her husband, Dirk of Palmyra; and a son, Bob Swansegar Jr. of Clearfield.
She is survived by two sisters, Ann Bannon and her husband, Don and Mary Ann Pollock and a brother, John Tekely. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Ryan Alberts of San Jose, Calif., Kylie Freed and her husband, Bill of North Huntington, Nathan and Ashley Alberts of Connelsville, Rebecca and Rachael Ryver of Morrisdale, Bryan Williams of Wyomissing, Tifaney Godin and her husband, Matt of Jacksonville, NC, Aaron Swansegar of Clearfield, Adam Capatch of Arlington, Va. and David Capatch of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Philipsburg.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
