Margaret L. “Peg” Baranak, 87, of Philipsburg, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
She was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Tribusky) Murnyak born Aug. 10, 1926 in Clarence. She married Stephen M. Baranak on May 29, 1954 in Clarence; he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2000.
She was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, where she was also a member of the church choir. She was a homemaker and enjoyed weaving rugs and singing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Adeline Elliott, Helen Mitchell and Caroline Perusek. She was the last of her generation.
Mrs. Baranak is survived by a daughter Rosanna Sherick and her husband, Harry of Endicott, NY; two sons, Steve Baranak of Philipsburg and Matthew Baranak and his wife, Wendy of Smithfield, Va.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Michael and Sara Sherick and Chase Baranak, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. Joseph P. Staszewski as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Clarence.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg.
