Janet “Maude” Zartman Beezer, 92, of DuBois died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Highland View Nursing Home in Brockway.
Born Oct. 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John Isaac Zartman and Marguerite Charlotte (Dietrich) Zartman.
She graduated from DuBois High School and attended Penn State University.
In 1953, she married Robert Hamilton Beezer. He preceded her in death in September of 1974.
Her professional life as a teacher included teaching assignments at Falls Creek, Luthersburg and Clearfield, concluding with 24 years as a teacher and department chair at the DuBois Business College.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in DuBois. She was a church organist for 35 years, serving at the First Baptist Church, St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and Bethany Covenant.
Her volunteer work spanned across the First Baptist Church Academy, American Cancer Society, Community Concert Association, Business & Professional Women, DuBois Hospital Auxiliary, Christ the King Manor Auxiliary and the Hahne Cancer Center. She was also the Zartman Family Reunion Board secretary and had her own personal card-writing ministry.
The highlights of Janet Maude Beezer’s full life between 1921-2014 was her belief in Christ as God’s son, her dedication of being a loving child, sacrificial love for her cousin, Maudie, daughter, Diane and her grandchildren, Meredith, Charise and Logan and her enjoyment of relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank her loving and dedicated cousins, Shirley and Blythe Hagen, who made it possible for her to stay in her own home for many more years than otherwise possible. She also received support from her faithful friends, Cindy Rolls and Sherry Thomas, and her neighbor, Mary Boyle.
She’s survived by her daughter, Diane McClure and her husband, Ray of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren, Charise and Logan; a cousin Maudie Williams; two nieces; one nephew; and many other supportive cousins.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter and one nephew.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorials of love and remembrance may be made to the First Baptist Church, 197 Eastern Ave., DuBois, PA 15801, for the music ministry or Haiti Mission funds.
