CLEARFIELD – Five members of DECA, an association of marketing students at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center, participated in the 63rd annual State Career Development Conference at the Hershey Lodge on Feb. 26–28.
Representing CCCTC in the DECA State Conference were Chris Hutton, Curwensville, as voting delegate; Elizabeth Dunsmore, Jesse Kruis and Chris Young Jr., Clearfield, in the learn and earn chapter written event and Kilee Hanes, Curwensville, in job interview.
Placing third in the learn in earn event, Dunsmore, Kruis and Young Jr. will advance to compete at an international level in Atlanta, Ga. from May 2-7. Kilee Hanes took fourth in the technical division of the job interview event and secured a nomination to the Senior Management Institute to be held during the international competition in Atlanta, Ga.
DECA is the only Career and Technical Student Organization operating through the nation’s schools to attract young people to careers in marketing management and entrepreneurship. Its purposes are to develop respect for education, which will contribute to occupational competence and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free enterprise system.
More than 200 students, advisors and chaperones participated in the three-day State Conference.
