Joan Helen Colavecchi, 75, of Clearfield died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at her home.
She was born June 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Frank and Rafaella ‘Flutch’ (Pastori) Natoli.
Mrs. Colavecchi taught third grade at the former Leonard Grade School. She then served as a substitute teacher in various schools throughout the area.
She was a very accomplished artist and enjoyed Penn State sports and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
She’s survived by two children, Paul Charles Colavecchi and his companion, Peggy Sue Graham of Clearfield and Mary Colavecchi O’Keefe and her husband, Jeffrey P. Carretto of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michaela A., Joseph ‘Cross’ and Carly J. Colavecchi and Samantha Kelly O’Keefe; a sister, Sarah Chaplin and her husband, Alan of Clearfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Michael Colavecchi on March 4, 2010 and whom she wed on Aug. 26, 1961.
She was also preceded in death by son, Joseph Michael Colavecchi Jr.; a sister, Josephine Skinner; and three brothers, Anthony, Sam and Joey Natoli.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
At the funeral home on Friday, a Christian Vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m. and the rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield or to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield.
