A. Jeane Franek, 92, of Philipsburg, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was born Nov. 15, 1921 in Bellefonte, a daughter of the Late Charles and Mary (Campbell) Kelley.
She was a high school graduate; and, she graduated in 1939 from nursing school in Binghamton, NY. She was fortunate to practice her nursing career in several states including: New York, Alaska and Pennsylvania.
Jeane was married Sept. 15, 1939 to John M. Franek. Her husband of 63 years preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Franek, a practicing Christian for more than 80 years, was always ready to witness for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Messiah Baptist Church, Lanse; and, she had attended the New Life Center, Philipsburg.
Both she and her husband were able to live out their respective dreams in life. He owned and operated a farm while she, a licensed practical nurse, owned the former Presqueisle Personal Care Home, Philipsburg, for many years.
Mrs. Franek was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a son, Ronald “Butch” Franek; a daughter, Barbara C. “Barbie” Franek; a foster daughter, Barbara Ann Johns; and one brother, Robert T. Kelley.
She’s survived by a son, Philip Franek of Philipsburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Sherman of Alaska; a brother, John Charles “Jack” Kelley of Drifting; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a niece, Ann Sharpless of Osceola Mills, who was her caretaker for many years.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. John T. Dill, Officiating.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Monday at the funeral home
Burial will be in Messiah Baptist Cemetery, Lanse.
