CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Paul Eugene Ulrich, 32, of Grove Avenue, Johnston. Ulrich was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list earlier this week.
On May 6, 2013, Patrolman C.D. Panebianco of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Ulrich. She charged Ulrich with retail theft and receiving stolen property.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 19, 2012, the Lawrence Township police received a report about a theft from a business located on Plaza Drive, Clearfield. Upon investigation it was found that Ulrich and two other individuals had unlawfully removed items from that store that were valued at approximately $1,200.
It was also found that Ulrich and the two individuals had unlawfully removed items valued at approximately $900 from another Clearfield business.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 2, 2013, at which time all charges were held for court. On Feb. 20, Ulrich failed to appear for jury selection, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that after being listed as the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week, Ulrich voluntarily surrendered himself to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. Ulrich is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
