CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as James Casey Lockett, 30, of Maple Street, Ramey. Lockett was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Oct.28, 2013.
On July 16, 2013, Trooper Justin Yost of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield barracks, filed a criminal complaint. He charged Lockett with receiving stolen property.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 9, the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to a residence on Maple Street in Gulich Township for a report about a stolen all-terrain vehicle.
Upon investigation it was found that a witness had observed Lockett operating the ATV, and the ATV was subsequently located at Lockett’s residence. The ATV was valued at approximately $1,700.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 7, at which time Lockett failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers resulted in Lockett being located at a residence in Madera. On March 6, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location, and Lockett attempted to flee the residence.
Deputies, however, were able to apprehend Lockett. He was then taken into custody. Lockett is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
