Ruth Elizabeth “Betty” (Sklar) Minds, 85, of Ramey died Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Mrs. Minds was born May 20, 1928 at Whiteside, Houtzdale, a daughter of the late Stephen Andrew and Ruth (Brown) Sklar.
She was a member of the Ramey United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the former Art Minds Coal Co., Inc.
On May 21, 1949 at the Bellwood United Brethren Church, Mrs. Minds married J. Arthur Minds, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2011.
Mrs. Minds is survived by a son, Arthur James Minds of Pasadena, Calif. and a daughter, Carol Jean Pataky and her husband, Randy of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Kevin Pataky of Mechanicsburg, Bradley Pataky of New Windsor, NY and Brittany Pataky of Clearfield.
She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Leanora Dobish of Beccaria, Marie Fuoss (Richard) of Tyrone and Steven James Sklar (Bonnie) of Navarre, Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Minds was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Mildred Zeek, infant, Shirley Ann Sklar, Hilda Mae Olenick and George “Jack” Sklar.
Mrs. Minds was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to her family and her home.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Clare L. Pannebaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, Ramey.
Mrs. Minds’ family suggest memorial donations be made to the Ramey United Methodist Church, in care of Jane Zapsky, 1965 Vulcan Rd., Madera, PA 16661.
