CLEARFIELD – The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library would like to invite area youth to meet children’s author Professor M.R. Hooley.
“Professor Hooley Comes Home!” will be held March 11 at 3:30 p.m. and is open to all children ages 3 through 9. Professor Hooley will share his published book, Penelope Skunk Has Junk in Her Trunk.
Professor Hooley, a pseudonym for former Clearfield resident Michael Hughes, is an eccentric, wild-haired, ukulele-playing, and somewhat bumbling man. Professor Hooley is the face of Hooley Books, which Hughes created to bring the joy of reading to children all over the world.
In the book Penelope Skunk Has Junk in Her Trunk, he tells the story of a skunk named Penelope who has junk everywhere, including her closets, shelves, and all over her house! Throughout the book, Penelope Skunk learns that there are more important things in life than all her junk! Hooley’s fun, heartwarming story displays the importance of family.
In addition to sharing his book, Professor Hooley will discuss skunks, the moral of the story, and an activity with participating children.
Professor Hooley will have copies of the book for sale following the event, and partial proceeds from the book sale will benefit the Shaw Public Library. Light refreshments will also be available.
“Professor Hooley Comes Home!” is sponsored by the Clearfield Woman’s Club. Additionally, the author is donating his time in visiting the library to share this experience with the youth of Clearfield.
