Kathryn M. “Dee” Black, 77, a resident of Ridgeview Eldercare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville, and formerly of Curwensville, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Ridgeview.
Born Dec. 14, 1936 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Dorsey A. and Melva A. (Leight) Black. She was the owner/manager of the former Dot’s Restaurant of Curwensville, which closed in 1972. She then worked for the former Clearfield Cheese Co. in Curwensville until her retirement. She was a graduate of Curwensville Area High School.
Surviving are a niece, Gaye Lansberry and her husband, Jay of Zelienople and a nephew, Gary Curry and his wife, Eileen of Woodland. Also surviving are a special friend, Lisa Redden and her husband, Rick and their sons, Nick and Andrew Redden of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mabel A. Curry; and two brothers, William D. “Bill” and John Black. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral services for Kathryn M. “Dee” Black will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Charles M. Lee Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
Friends will be received 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday and from 12 p.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home.
