CLEARFIELD – The woman who allegedly agreed to drive two men to cash in stolen copper piping waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday during Centralized Court at the Clearfield County Jail.
Tessa Renee Robison, 23, of Madera has been charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit burglary. These charges stem from her role in the Girard-Goshen Elementary School burglary case.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 27, 2013, state police were dispatched to the Girard-Goshen Elementary School for a reported burglary. Further, someone gained entry to the school and removed copper piping from the boiler room.
Samuel Kovach, 25, and Allen Robison III, 30, both of Clearfield, were arrested after a traffic stop in Clearfield Borough. While the trunk of the vehicle wasn’t secured, police observed the stolen copper piping.
Kovach and Robison were subsequently taken into custody by police. The stolen copper piping was recovered and returned to the Clearfield Area School District.
The operator of the vehicle, Tessa Robison, was interviewed by police. She said that Kovach and her brother, Allen Robison, wanted her to drive them to Novey’s Recycling to cash in some scrap metal. She wasn’t aware as to how they’d gotten the scrap metal, but she knew it was stolen.
During an interview with police, Kovach admitted he went to the Girard-Goshen Elementary School with Robison on the night in question. He waited in the vehicle while Robison entered the school. After Robison returned to the vehicle, Kovach admitted that he helped load the copper piping into the vehicle.
