State police at Clearfield

• A two-vehicle accident occurred Friday on state Route 53 in Houtzdale. A 17-year-old boy and Cindy B. Green of Houtzdale were traveling northbound when she stopped her school bus to drop off students. The boy failed to observe this and collided with the right rear bumper of the school bus. Both the boy and Green were wearing their seatbelts. The school bus had 14 students on board; no injuries were reported. The boy’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Six tractor-trailers and a Chevrolet Traverse were involved in a pile-up on Wednesday on Interstate 80 westbound at mile-marker 127. Due to extreme weather and roadway conditions, all of the units became involved in an accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
• No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Friday on Walton Street in Decatur Township. Alfred M. Dixon of Morrisdale and Michelle A. Orndorf of Osceola Mills were traveling northbound when Dixon attempted to avoid a collision with another vehicle, which made an abrupt turn. Both Dixon and Orndorf took evasive action and applied their brakes. The Orndorf vehicle struck that operated by Dixon in the 7 o’clock position. The Dixon vehicle subsequently traveled 10 yards before coming to a final rest. Both Dixon and Orndorf were wearing their seatbelts; the Orndorf vehicle was towed from the scene.
• An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime Feb. 15-16 on Laura Street in Philipsburg. During the incident, someone entered the victim’s property and vandalized a camper parked at the rear of the residence.
• An incident of theft occurred sometime Thursday or Friday on Teutonic Avenue in Decatur Township. During the incident, someone took a black- and white-colored 2013 Polaris Ranger side-by-side. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
• No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday on the Kylertown – Drifting Highway in Cooper Township. Stephen Smolko of Philipsburg was traveling southbound when he lost control of his vehicle. He subsequently exited the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole and traffic light warning pole. All occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts. Smolko was cited for the accident.
• On Thursday, an assault occurred at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale in Woodward Township. During the incident, an inmate pushed a guard.
• An incident of disorderly conduct occurred Sunday at the American Legion in Houtzdale Borough. During the incident, a 44-year-old Houtzdale man was at the establishment, although he wasn’t permitted. While there, he threw bar stools and caused property damage. Charges were filed through the district court.
• No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Sunday on Glen Hope Boulevard in Beccaria Township. Nancy Whorton of Hagerstown, Md., was traveling south when she lost control of her vehicle on an icy patch of roadway. Her vehicle exited the right berm and struck a snow bank before overturning onto its roof. Both Whorton and her passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Minor injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Sunday on the Winburne Road in Cooper Township. Corey Quick of Moshannon turned left while spinning his tires, which caused his vehicle to overturn onto its side. Quick was wearing his seatbelt and not hurt; however, his passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Quick was cited for the accident.
• An incident of simple assault occurred Feb. 13 on First Street in Woodward Township. During the incident, a 57-year-old Houtzdale man pointed a shotgun at the victim and threatened to shoot him. Charges are currently pending at this time.

State police at Philipsburg

• An incident of harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct occurred Feb. 17 on U.S. Route 322 in Rush Township. During the incident, an 18-year-old man was operating the victim’s car and they engaged in an argument. The man proceeded to punch the victim in the face and when they stopped at a traffic light, she shoved the car into park and removed the keys from the ignition. The victim exited the car with the keys, at which point the man dumped a full, 32-ounce tea over the inside of the victim’s car and got out. The victim then entered the car and drove away. State police noted that during the incident, the man was yelling and screaming outside the car and punched and kicked at it. Further investigation revealed that the man didn’t possess a valid driver’s license. All charges were filed through the district court.
• An incident of fleeing and eluding occurred Friday along SR 350 to Phoenix and Rushton roads in Rush Township. During the incident, someone operated a dark green side-by-side on the roadways, and state police attempted a traffic stop. The operator fled from state police; the side-by-side is further described as having four bucket seats and being outfitted for a canopy roof. At the time of the incident, the operator was exiting the Linwood Development. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
• An incident of DUI and resisting arrest occurred Sunday on SR 3040 near the U.S. Route 322 interchange in Huston Township. During the incident, a 41-year-old Julian woman was observed driving in an extremely erratic and unsafe manner. After a traffic stop, she was being arrested for DUI; while at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, she became belligerent and uncooperative. Charges were filed against her through the district court.
• An incident of retail theft and disorderly conduct occurred Sunday at the Dollar General store in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a Huntingdon man attempted to steal items and when confronted by an employee, he became irate and started to swear and yell. Charges were filed through the district court.

State police at Ridgway

• An incident of retail theft occurred Friday at the Wal-Mart store in Fox Township. Further, a 16-year-old St. Marys juvenile attempted to steal merchandise valued at $26.70 from the store. Charges were filed through the district court.
• An incident of retail theft occurred Friday at the Wal-Mart store in Fox Township. Further, a 17-year-old Kersey juvenile attempted to steal merchandise valued at $29.79 from the store. Charges were filed through the district court.
• An incident of retail theft occurred Friday at the Wal-Mart store in Fox Township. Further, a 16-year-old St. Marys juvenile attempted to steal merchandise valued at $10.94 from the store. Charges were filed through the district court.

Lawrence Township

• Police received a report about an incident of harassment at the Clearfield Area High School. Further, police contacted the individuals involved with the incident.
• Police received a report about an incident of harassment at the Clearfield Hospital. Further, one male punched another male; the incident was turned over to the Clearfield Borough police.
• Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief on River Road. Further, someone had their rear window broken out; the incident remains under investigation at this time.
• Police recovered a wallet that was located on Woodland Road. The owner of the wallet is known and can claim it at the police station.
• Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred at the Clearfield Area High School. The incident remains under investigation.
• Police assisted a motorist at the Graystone Courtyard.
• Police responded to an alarm at Gambro Health.
• Police checked the welfare of a Connecticut woman who was reportedly in the area of Kennedy Road. However, police found she was traveling on Interstate 80 and referred the incident to the state police.
• Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on SR 879. Further, a Clearfield man lost control on a patch of ice and struck an embankment.
• Police received a report about a domestic disturbance on Airport Road. Further, police initiated a traffic stop on SR 879 and discussed the incident with the individuals involved.
• Police responded to a medical emergency on West Second Avenue. Clearfield Borough police and Clearfield Ambulance assisted at the scene.
• Police responded to a domestic disturbance on South Second Street.
• Police received a report about an alarm at an area church. Upon arrival police found the church secured.
• Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on SR 879. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
• Police responded to a single-vehicle accident along River Road. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
• Police responded to Lick Run where two vehicles were stuck due to icy roadway conditions. Police were assisted by the Lawrence Township road crew. The vehicles were driven from the scene.
• Police received a report about a suspicious person at a Spring Avenue residence. However, police were unable to locate anyone.
• Police received a report about a suspicious person in the Shaw Street area. However, police were unable to locate anyone upon searching the area.
• Police checked the welfare of a juvenile on West Front Street. However, police were unable to locate the juvenile.

DuBois City

• On Friday, police responded to Grant Street for a male who was reportedly lying unconscious on the roadway. Upon arrival the male was awake and sitting up. Police found the male was under the influence of prescription drugs. He was transported by ambulance to DuBois Regional Medical Center – West. The male was cited for public drunkenness. Penn State DuBois police assisted at the scene.
• On Friday, police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Liberty Boulevard and Railroad Avenue. During the stop, police found a passenger in possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges are currently pending against the passenger.
• On Saturday, a hit-and-run accident occurred in the 200 block of South Jared Street. Upon arrival police found the operator of a vehicle had impacted two parked vehicles and fled the scene. Police later located the operator and arrested her for driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous vehicle code violations.
• On Saturday, police observed three males who were arguing by a vehicle in the 200 block of West Long Avenue. Police approached the males and found one to be extremely intoxicated. Charges of public drunkenness are pending against the male.
• During the week of Feb. 16 through Saturday, police investigated 13 accidents and issued 36 traffic citations and five written warnings.
