CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Woman’s Club, established in 1913, has continually given back to the community.  This year, they selected the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging’s Blizzard Box Program as one of their recipients.

Every year, the CCAAA sends emergency Blizzard Box meals to homebound older citizens throughout the county.  Consumers are encouraged to keep the meals on their shelf for stormy winter days when the agency can’t deliver a hot meal.

Since 1983, local Rotary Clubs, individuals and businesses have pulled together with the CCAAA to fund this valuable program.  One hundred percent of all donations are used solely for this program to ensure that homebound older citizens have something nutritious to eat during severe winter weather.

The generous contribution made by the Clearfield Woman’s Club will provide blizzard boxes, each containing three meals, to 10 local citizens. The agency recently packaged a second round of boxes due to the number of weather-related cancellations.   If you would like to participate, please visit www.ccaaa.net or call 814-765-2696 for additional information.

For more information about the Clearfield Woman’s Club, please call membership vice president Sherry Wills at 814-765-2013. The next meeting will be held March 11, at 6 p.m. at BPO Elks No. 540, 301 N. Second St., Clearfield.  Guest speaker will be children’s book author and Clearfield native Michael Hughes, who writes fun rhyming books for

kids of all ages as Professor M. R. Hooley.  The public is invited, but dinner reservations must be made in advance by contacting Donna Shaw at 814-765-3121.
