DUBOIS – A documentary film that explores the notion of climate change by detailing the loss of arctic ice masses is scheduled for screening at Penn State DuBois.
Chasing Ice is the culmination of years of work by photographer James Balog, who used cameras to capture the shrinking glaciers of the arctic. The public is welcome to attend the screening, free of charge, at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hiller Auditorium.
Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering evidence of the changing planet. It follows the photographer on a bold expedition that he dubbed The Extreme Ice Survey. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.
Penn State DuBois glaciologist Byron Parizek will be present for a question-and-answer session immediately after the showing.
