Irene R. Spooner, 68, of DuBois died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Feb. 16, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Ceil (Elkin) Bowers.
She was the administrative assistant for continuing education at the Pennsylvania State University DuBois campus from 1979 until 2001.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and for the Free Medical Clinic in DuBois.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Ann Boston of Ashburn, Va. and Debra Kathleen Bezak and her husband, Amil of Merrick, NY; one grandchild, Jordan Bryce Boston; and a brother, William Bowers and a sister, Diane Bowers, both of Queens, NY.
She was preceded in death by her son, James William Spooner Jr.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor George Tutor officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
