Laura, I. Pietro, 73, of Curwensville and formerly of Mineral Springs and Philipsburg died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at the Ridgeview Elder Care Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville.
She was the daughter of the late Roy D. and Mildred M. (Carter) Wilson born Nov. 15, 1940 in Philipsburg.
Ms. Pietro was a co-founder and past-president of the Clearfield County Habitat for Humanity and a member of the World Wildlife Fund. She was also a member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America and enjoyed showing her Scotties at various dog shows.
She was the owner/operator of Smillescots Kennels in Mineral Springs. She had been employed as a reporter for the Altoona Mirror and the Clearfield Progress and had also been employed with Bethphage Mission East, Inc. in Hyde and DuBois.
She was a 1958 graduate of the Philipsburg High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1994 from the Pennsylvania State University.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marian Fahr.
Ms. Pietro is survived by a daughter, Angela E. Pietro of Clearfield; a granddaughter, Brittany L. Pietro of Newport News, VA; and a grandson, Tyrone L. White Jr. of Clearfield.
There will be no funeral service or public visitation.
The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.
