READING – Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec) is monitoring weather conditions and preparing for the possible impacts of heavy ice and snow accumulations across its service area Tuesday night through Wednesday.
As a result of the weather forecasts, Penelec has implemented the company’s storm preparation process, including staffing additional dispatchers and analysts at the regional dispatch office, and making arrangements to bring in additional line, substation and forestry personnel, as required, based on the severity of the weather. In addition, contractors have been notified they could be required to assist with storm restoration efforts over the next several days.
“Penelec personnel stand ready to safely restore service to our customers who could be affected by the severe weather expected to impact the region this week,” said Scott Wyman, regional president, Penelec. “We also have the ability to bring in personnel from other FirstEnergy utilities along with contractor crews to assist with the restoration process, if needed.”
