ALLPORT – Ciara Strickland poured in 28 points Thursday night to lead the Curwensville Lady Tide to a convincing 53-37 win over West Branch on the Lady Warriors’ floor.
The Moshannon Valley League (MVL) win gives the Lady Tide double digit wins for the year at 10-6. The Tide also put a strangle hold on first place in the MVL, now sporting a perfect 6-0 record.
West Branch fell to 6-10 overall and 3-1 in MVL play.
Lady Tide Head Coach Rusty McCracken said afterwards, “Ciara (Strickland) started the game hot with 11 points in the first quarter and that sparked the rest of the team to play well. Everyone played as a team and did their jobs defensively and offensively.”
McCracken continued with, “I thought Abby Dugo handled the ball well while she was in the game. Hannah Dixon found scoring opportunities, and Tierra Shope turned in another solid game.”
Shope had 11 points for the Lady Tide to help out Strickland while Christine Sabol and Taylor Kolesar each had 10 for the Lady Warriors.
The game was a make-up that was postponed twice already this season – January 6 and January 29.
West Branch won the junior varsity tilt over Curwensville, 51-27. Shauna Guy had 20 points for the Lady Tide.
The Lady Tide travel to Johnsonburg Friday to play the Lady Rams with the JV battle starting at 6 pm. The varsity game will immediately follow.
The Lady Rams won the first game against the Tide on January 17 at Curwensville, 47-43.
