CLEARFIELD – It’s time for the annual calendar contest for the Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Starting this year, the top winner will be featured on a billboard along U.S. Route 322 between Clearfield and Philipsburg.
Beginning Feb. 16 and continuing through March 9, individuals will have the opportunity to bring their pet in and have its picture taken by a professional photographer. For only $10, individuals will receive an 8-inch by 10-inch picture of their pet and a smaller picture attached to an “official orange donation can.” Additional photos and cans can also be purchased at the photo shoots.
The schedule for the photo shoots (appointments are preferred) will be:
- Feb. 16, Adrian-Sandy Fire Hall in DuBois from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. The photographer is Nikki Parrish. Please call 814-771-6553 to schedule an appointment.
- Feb. 23, Clearfield County SPCA. The photographer is Paul Dale. Please call 814-765-2220 to schedule an appointment.
- March 2 – Reliance Fire Hall in Philipsburg. The photographer is Jennifer Hoover. Please call 814-765-2220 to schedule an appointment.
- March 9 – Clearfield County SPCA. The photographer is Nikki Parrish. Please call 814-765-2220 to schedule an appointment.
Using the donation can(s) to solicit votes, individuals can “Make Your Pet A Star.” As mentioned above, the top winner will be featured on a billboard located on Route 322 between Clearfield and Philipsburg, and the top two pets will be featured on the 2015 SPCA T-shirt.
If an individual’s pet is one of the 12 pets receiving the most votes (most money), it will be featured on a month of the 2015 SPCA Pet Calendar. The next 12 pets will be featured on the honorable mention page. All pets entered in the contest will be included in a collage, which makes up the front and back cover of the calendar
If a pet participated in the calendar contest in the past and an individual has lost that pet since, please contact the SPCA. The SPCA honors deceased participants on a memorial page in the calendar.
Individuals may also enter the contest by submitting a high quality digital photo via email – details for this type of submission will be on the SPCA Web site at www.clearfieldcountyspca.org.
The calendar contest is the major fundraising event for the SPCA. The funds raised from the contest and calendar sales allow the SPCA to keep the doors of the shelter open.
