EMPORIUM – So if you saw a full-sized bull elk that stood in the back of a pick-up truck, which was being driven on state Route 555 and SR 120 on Jan. 13, you weren’t imagining it.
On Monday, the elk returned from its several-year hiatus at the Elk Country Visitors Center. The full mount elk that once stood in the Elk State Forest District Office was on loan to the Elk Country Visitor Center. Since the exhibits are now complete with their own elk, this elk has returned.
Many visitors to the district office have commented on missing the elk and wondered when it would return. Countless visitors stop by and bring other family members along just to see the elk mount.
Children really like seeing the elk and many have their pictures taken next to the life-sized bull elk. The Elk State Forest is pleased to have the roaming elk once again, which will stand proudly for visitors to see and enjoy.
