State police at Clearfield
- No injuries were reported after a three-vehicle accident that occurred Friday on the Clearfield – Woodland Highway in Bradford Township. Eric Larson of Woodland, Effie Marty of Brisbin and Andrew Gross of Woodland were traveling eastbound when the Marty vehicle stopped due to the operator of the vehicle ahead of her waiting to make a left-hand turn. Larson was following the Marty vehicle too closely and rear-ended it. Gross was unable to stop due to following the Larson vehicle too closely and rear-ended it. Larson and Gross were cited for the accident. Gross’ vehicle was towed from the scene.
- A DUI-related accident occurred Friday on state Route 153 northbound in Gulich Township. Further, a 39-year-old Houtzdale man traveled into oncoming traffic and collided with a vehicle operated by Benjamin Grove of Chest Springs. Charges will be filed through the district court.
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Saturday on Rolling Stone Road in Covington Township. Gregory McNeal of Huntingdon was traveling north and coming to a stop at the intersection with SR 879. But due to slippery roadway conditions, he was unable to stop and went through the intersection. His vehicle subsequently collided with an embankment. Both he and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts.
- An incident of DUI occurred Saturday in the area of Clearfield and Williams streets in Clearfield Borough. Further, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle operated by a 33-year-old Clearfield man for several traffic violations. During the traffic stop, the man was found to be intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Clearfield barracks for testing and processing for DUI. Charges will be filed through the district court.
- An incident of theft occurred Saturday on Dutch Town Road in Bigler Township. During the incident, someone stole a 1991 Chevrolet 4X4 and then fled the scene. The vehicle was found unattended approximately one-half mile from the victim’s residence. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
State police at DuBois
- An incident of theft/access device fraud occurred Jan. 14 along Route 219 in Washington Township. During the incident, a known 28-year-old Rockton woman allegedly stole the victim’s wallet while at his residence. She then allegedly used the victim’s Visa card to make four purchases in the amount of $22.64 at three, different merchants in the DuBois area. The woman also allegedly took $200 in cash from the victim. State police later recovered the victim’s wallet and Visa card. The victim didn’t want to seek prosecution after the woman agreed to repay him.
State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime Thursday or Friday at the Julian Post Office in Huston Township. During the incident, someone shot a plate glass window with a BB or pellet gun, causing the window to chip and crack. Damage is estimated at approximately $500. - On Friday, state police arrested a 53-year-old Philipsburg man during the course of a theft investigation. Upon arrival to an East Pine Street address, state police found the man who is the victim’s temporary roommate had an outstanding arrest warrant from 2007. While taking him into custody, state police found syringes, prescription medication not prescribed to him, and various paraphernalia. Charges will be filed through the district court.
- On Jan. 12, a 9-year-old Philipsburg juvenile allegedly transmitted sexually explicit images of himself to another juvenile via an electronic device using a social media network. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
- An incident of theft occurred sometime between Friday and Monday on Coaldale Road in Rush Township. Further, B&B Logging of Woodland reported the theft of a large amount of diesel fuel, which was removed from a D6 dozer and a log skidder. - On Sunday, three individuals were charged with underage possession of alcohol as a result of a traffic investigation on Interstate 99 in Worth Township. Charges will be filed through the district court.
- An incident of harassment occurred Saturday on North Seventh Street in Philipsburg Borough. During a domestic dispute, a known 50-year-old man allegedly directed threats and telephone calls to his ex-girlfriend. The man had been previously advised that she didn’t want him contacting her. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
State police at Ridgway
- A DUI accident occurred Friday on SR 219 near Oyster Run Road in Horton Township. Further, a Ridgway man was traveling north and attempted to pass another vehicle on the left. He lost control of his vehicle due to the snow-covered roadway, struck the other vehicle and sent it off the roadway. Further investigation revealed the man was under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. The man was charged with DUI and cited for various traffic violations.
- A hit-and-run accident occurred Friday on SR 948 in Fox Township. Further, a male was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. He subsequently struck a vehicle operated by Alicia Gaverick of Ridgway. The male initially stopped, at which point he made contact with one of Gaverick’s passengers. However, he proceeded to flee the scene toward Kersey. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a mid-2000’s F250 or F350 truck that’s dark in color with an extended cab. It’s believed that the truck had a snow plow mounted on its front. The truck might have sustained minor damage as well. Clearfield Borough
- Police received a report about a domestic dispute that occurred at a residence along West Market Street. As a result, the individuals were separated for the night.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with locating a suspect who had fled the scene of a physical domestic dispute.
- Police received a report about suspicious activity along Chase Street. The complaint was listed as unfounded.
- Police received a report about a noise complaint at a residence along Park Avenue.
- Police responded to an incident at the Clearfield Hospital. The incident was handled at the scene.
- Police received a report about an alleged theft of mail from a residence by a known actor.
- Police responded to an area of Bigler Avenue, where a Christmas tree was in the middle of the roadway. The debris was removed from the roadway.
- Police responded to the Clearfield Hospital for an intoxicated male who entered the emergency room without permission. He was removed from the property.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with a fight involving six individuals who were allegedly intoxicated and armed with knives.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road. The vehicle was found on its side, and the driver sustained moderate injuries.
- Police responded to a South Fifth residence to recover an alleged stolen firearm.
- Police responded to a vehicle lockout on West Locust Street.
- Police responded to Nichols Street for suspicious activity. However, police couldn’t locate anything suspicious.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief to a vehicle on Daisy Street. During the incident, someone keyed a vehicle that belonged to a township resident.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment by communications.
- Police received a report about a motorist who had an open container of alcohol on Daisy Street.
- Police received a report about a minor vehicle accident on Flegal Road. Upon arrival police found a vehicle in a ditch. Towing services assisted at the scene.
- Police placed a Clearfield man in the Clearfield County Jail for public intoxication.
- Police received a report about a domestic assault at the Economy Inn. Upon arrival police found a 38-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted by her boyfriend. The male had fled the scene prior to police arrival; however, Clearfield Borough police found him walking along South Second Street. Police subsequently took the male, Rodney Dixon, 42, into custody on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and related charges. Dixon was arraigned with his bail being set at $5,000 straight.
- Police received a report about a stolen vehicle. Charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle are currently pending.
- Police received a report about a traffic violation on Hill Street. Charges are currently pending a statement from a witness.
- Police received a report about a single-vehicle accident on Wrigley Street. Further, the driver lost control of their vehicle on the icy roadway. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
- Police received a report about a vehicle accident on Flegal Road. Upon arrival police found the driver had fled the scene. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
- Police assisted stranded motorists who were from out-of-the-area.
- Police received a report about a single-vehicle accident at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
- Police received a report about a domestic dispute at the Edgewood Apartments. Upon arrival both individuals were separated by police; charges are currently pending at this time. Clearfield Borough police assisted at the scene.
- Police received a report about a single-vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road. The driver was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for an evaluation, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Clearfield Borough police assisted at the scene.
- Police received two reports about a civil issue involving personal property.
DuBois City
- On Friday, a couple allegedly engaged in a physical altercation over the course of the night at an apartment in the 100 block of South Brady Street. Both individuals sustained injuries and were subsequently arrested for domestic assault.
- Police have initiated an investigation into the theft of money from a purse, which occurred Friday in the first block of East Weber Avenue.
- On Friday, police responded to an incident involving an unwanted male at a residence in the 600 block of Maple Avenue. The male left the residence prior to police arrival.
- A single-vehicle accident occurred Saturday in the 100 block of West DuBois Avenue. The operator of a truck attempted to pass other vehicles while using the turning lane during snowy road conditions. The operator lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident; the vehicle was towed from the scene. The operator will be cited for the accident.
