FLINTON — Curwensville’s great start fizzled as Glendale’s upper weights turned a 19-13 deficit into a 40-19 bulge, and the Vikings went on to pin a 52-25 defeat on the visiting Golden Tide in high school wrestling action Tuesday night.
Because of the pre-match coin flip, Curwensville was able to send out its three winningest matmen for the first bouts, and they produced a 15-0 lead.
Sam Bressler (8-1) blanked Jett Sacolic 5-0 at 126 pounds, Tyler Mays (6-5) pinned Bradon Hughes in 40 seconds at 132 and Jake Lancaster (6-4) decked Tanner Martz in 1:28 at 138.
Jordan Peters was ahead 6-4 in the third period of the 145 bout, but Jon Hughes came back to pin him at 4:43.
After Hunter Lancaster followed with an 11-3 major decision against Caleb Jenkins at 152 to make it 19-6, the Vikings reeled off six consecutive wins to clinch the victory.
Kyle Stewart (170), Ray Carlheim (220) and Kody Ness (285) logged falls, Hunter Hamilton bested Ben Junod 6-1 at 182 and Brandon Simmers received a forfeit at 195.
The meet ended with three forfeits, Jeff Harvey (106) picking up Curwensville’s final points before Osborn Cheripka (113) and Tom Kovach (120) had their hands raised for Glendale (13-6).
The Golden Tide (0-4) will be back on their home mat Thursday to challenge once-beaten West Branch.
