Library Opens Registration for Winter Story Session

CLEARFIELD – Registration for the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library’s 2014 winter story session is under way. In Story Safari, preschool-aged children will experience the animal kingdom through stories, games, crafts and music.

The PA Forward initiative, launched by the Pennsylvania Library Association (PaLA) in 2012, supports the efforts of libraries across the state as leaders in community education. The five literacies of PA Forward will help guide discussions within the winter story session theme.

With each week’s discussion of animals, such as pets or farm animals, children will experience at least one of the five literacies as part of the PA Forward | Pennsylvania Libraries initiative.  The six-week program begins Feb. 3.

The Shaw Public Library is offering baby time, toddler time and story time sessions to all area preschoolers who are ages 6 months through 5 years of age. Baby time classes are open to children who are ages 6 months through 2 years of age on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Toddler time classes, for children ages 2 to 3 years of age, will follow on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. until 12 p.m. On Tuesdays, there will be two story time classes, the first from 10:30 a.m. until 11: 30 a.m. and the second from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. for all 4 and 5 year olds.

Parents and guardians may contact the library to register for any of the above programs. A calendar with dates and times for each program will also be available to interested families.
