Rebecca Ann Villa, 60, of Madera died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.
Born Nov. 15, 1953 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of Thomas P. and Elizabeth (Kost) Zakutney. She was of the Catholic faith.
She was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591. She enjoyed gardening and adored her dogs.
She was a petty officer of the second class in the U.S. Navy for 12 years. She was a 1971 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School and a 1972 graduate of Central Penn Business College. She had been employed at Penn State University and PennDOT, Clearfield Office.
She’s survived by a son, Trevor Villa of Madera; a brother, Michael Zakutney and his wife, Shirley of Houtzdale; three sisters, Mary Ann Wingate of Houtzdale, Nadine Twigg and her husband, Roger of Madera and Malee Maurer and her husband, William of Harrisburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Patrick Villa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Fr. Stanley Swacha as celebrant. There will be no public visitation per request.
Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin, where military honors will be conducted by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. 200 David St., Houtzdale, PA 16651 to offset burial expenses.
