HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Aging will recognize Older Pennsylvanians Day at the 98th Pennsylvania Farm Show on Jan. 6, by providing information on its programs and offering free refreshments for older adults who stop by the booth throughout the day.
“Older Pennsylvanians Day is a special opportunity for us to show appreciation to the older adults who come to the Farm Show,” Secretary of Aging Brian Duke said. “We invite all Farm Show attendees to stop by the department’s booth to find out more about our programs and resources.”
Department staff will answer questions and provide information to Farm Show visitors throughout the eight-day event.
Duke will be available to speak with visitors at the department’s booth on Older Pennsylvanians Day.
On Jan. 7, the booth will have representatives and information on hand from the state elder abuse and protective services programs.
On Jan. 8, representatives from the PACE/PACENET program will provide information on the program as well as other prescription benefit programs. Older adults will be able to determine if they are eligible for PACE benefits at the booth and register for program assistance if they qualify.
Guests can also pick-up a copy of the 2014 edition of the “Benefits and Rights” booklet, which outlines programs and services for older adults.
The Pennsylvania Farm Show is the largest indoor agricultural exposition in the country and the eight-day show, themed “Pennsylvania Farms: Growing for You,” features 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors.
