State police at Clearfield
- An accident occurred Saturday at the corner of Pruner and Curtin streets in Osceola Mills Borough. Roberta Merriman of Osceola Mills was traveling south on Curtin Street when her brakes locked up on her vehicle. Her vehicle traveled off the roadway and impacted a utility pole at the corner of Pruner Street. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Saturday on Morann Avenue in Woodward Township. Mariel Kephart of Madera was traveling northbound and too fast on the wet roadway. She subsequently lost control of her vehicle and struck the guiderail on the western side of the roadway, where it overturned onto its side. Kephart wasn’t wearing her seatbelt and was cited for the accident.
State police at DuBois
- The investigation is continuing into a single-vehicle accident that occurred Dec. 18 on Route 219 north of Interstate 80 in Washington Township. John Esola of Brockport lost control of his vehicle for undetermined reasons. After going into the median, his vehicle overturned into the southbound lanes. Esola was ejected from the vehicle and flown to Altoona with moderate injuries.
- No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Dec. 19 on Wilson Road in Washington Township. John Alderton of Falls Creek was traveling northbound and came upon a tractor-trailer operated by Richard Wiley of Palestine, WV. Wiley was traveling west and attempting to cross over from Courson Road into Welsh Road. The rear wheels of the Wiley tractor-trailer started to spin on the snow-packed/slush-covered roadway at the mouth of the intersection. As a result, Wiley’s tractor-trailer ended up sitting nearly idle in the northbound lane of Wilson Road. Alderton struck the Wiley tractor-trailer; his vehicle was towed from the scene.
- An incident of criminal mischief occurred Dec. 18 on Main, Short, Third and Sixth streets in Falls Creek Borough and on Smithtown Road in Washington Township. During the incident, a known 30-year-old man operated his all-terrain vehicle along the roadways and deliberately struck items before traveling to his residence. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at DuBois at 814-371-4652.
State police at Philipsburg
- The investigation is continuing into an alleged incident of indecent assault that occurred sometime between Nov. 1 and Nov. 28 at a residence in Rush Township. State police were contacted by Centre County Children & Youth Services about a report through Childline in which a 14-year-old girl alleged someone had been inappropriately touching her and making lewd remarks in her presence.
State police at Ridgway
- An incident of retail theft occurred Saturday at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fox Township. During the incident, an Emporium man was charged with taking $74.92 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
- An incident of retail theft occurred Nov. 6 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fox Township. During the incident, an Emporium man was charged with taking $139.84 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
DuBois City
- On Friday, police received a report about an incident of theft that occurred in the 100 block of East Washington Avenue. Further, the victim told police that someone stole lanterns from her porch sometime overnight. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
- On Friday, police received a report about a fight in progress in the 200 block of South Brady Street. Upon arrival to the scene, police encountered the individuals and arrested one male for public drunkenness. He was placed in the Clearfield County Jail on a 48-hour detainer.
- On Saturday, police received a report about an incident of theft that occurred in the 100 block of East Washington Avenue. Further, the victim told police that they had a lighted peacock decoration stolen from their yard sometime overnight. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
- The investigation is continuing into a hit-and-run accident that occurred Saturday in the 300 block of East Scribner Avenue. The victim told police that his vehicle was parked outside when he heard a loud crash. When he went outside, he noticed that someone had struck his vehicle but didn’t stop. His vehicle sustained damage to its driver’s side. The victim didn’t see the suspect vehicle and couldn’t provide a description.
- The investigation is continuing into a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian that occurred Sunday in the 100 block of East Washington Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, police encountered a female who had been struck by a silver vehicle with a black racing stripe on its side. The operator didn’t stop at the scene. The female sustained minor injuries and was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police searched for the suspect vehicle with negative results.
