KANE – The Curwensville Area High School boys basketball dropped a tough 52-47 overtime game on the road Friday night to the Kane Wolves.
The Golden Tide had a 24-20 halftime lead over the Wolves and were tied at 35-35 after three quarters.
Both teams scored eight in the fourth eight minutes to send the game into overtime at 43 each.
Kane would win the overtime battle, 9-4, to pick up the win.
Curwensville was paced on offense by senior Tanner Elensky with 22 points and junior Trey Rauckhorst with 10.
Kane’s Jeff Kojancic led all scorers with 27 tallies while teammate Kevin Cleer added 14.
Tide head coach Shane Pentz said afterwards, “We had a tough time defensive rebounding down the stretch and Kane was able to take advantage of that. We did play hard and played well, but we just came up a little short tonight”
Curwensville won the junior varsity game to start off the night with a 47-39 win over Kane. Jake Terry was the high scorer for the Tide and the game with 21.
The Golden Tide, now 4-2 on the season, are off until after the New Year arrives, playing DuBois Central Catholic at home on Thursday, January 3. The JV battle tips off at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
