Jack R. Trude, 89, of Winburne died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. Born July 23, 1924 in Flinton, he was the son of the late Guy and Jeannetta (Womer) Trude.
Mr. Trude was a member of the Winburne Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the VFW Moose. Mr. Trude was employed as a diamond core driller for Boring and Soils Testing Co. of Harrisburg.
He served in the U.S. Army Artillery. He earned the rank of sergeant and served overseas during World War II.
Mr. Trude was an avid outdoorsman. He played professional baseball in the minor and major baseball leagues for the St. Louis Browns, which is now the Baltimore Orioles. Mr. Trude also pitched for the Army Olympic Baseball All-Star team that faced the National League All-Star team. His statistics are included in the Major League Baseball office of the commissioner in New York City.
He’s survived by his wife, Avonell Trude; three daughters, Jackie Yanook and her fiancé, Dan Squires, Lana Morris and Abbey Leid and her husband, Rodney and three sons, John Trude and his wife, Christine, Troy Trude and his wife, Sue and Terry Trude and his wife, Rhonda.
He’s survived by eight grandchildren, Britt and Mike Dickson, Neisha and Mike Keebler, Kylie Yanook, Tyson and Stephanie Leid, Taylor Trude, Kody Trude, Laura Trude and Katie Trude; six great-grandchildren, Cade Dickson, Phoenix Dickson, Paris Dickson, Ashley Keebler, Jaden Leid and Katelyn Leid. He’s also survived by his brother, Jim Trude and his wife, Loretta and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Trude was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Trude and a sister, Jane Smeal and his parents.
Services and burial will be private for family and relatives. There will not be any public visitation.
