WILLIAMSPORT — The 2013-14 edition of Clearfield Bison wrestling opens their season at the 40th Annual Top Hat Tournament in Williamsport on Friday at 5:00 pm.
The Bison will fill 13 of 14 spots at the season-opening event with only three seniors in the line-up, while three freshman and five sophomores make up the bulk of the roster spots.
The 18-team tournament seeded the top nine in each weight class with the Bison garnering eight seeded wrestlers. The top seed for the Bison is returning regional qualifier Jake Verchick, seeded third, at heavyweight.
Number four seeds are freshman Zane Morgan at 113, junior Noah Cline at 132, and senior Tristan Caruthers, a newcomer to the Bison program, at 171.
Fifth seeds are fellow sophomores Logan Gilbert at 120 and Travis Ogden at 195.
Freshman Zane Morgan is the number seven seed at 106 and sophomore Josiah McClarren is the eight seed at 126.
Other Bisons hitting the mat are sophomore Logan Puit at 138, freshman Jarrett McCracken at 145, senior Mike Beck at 152, junior Grant Climie at 160, and sophomore Logan Lykens at 182.
