John F. “Jack” Schnur, 85, of (Chester Hill) Philipsburg died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center in DuBois.
He was the son of the late Paul and Loretto (Leibler) Schnur, born Aug. 15, 1928 in Kittanning. He married Patricia A. (Kirk) Schnur on April 19, 1954 in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2012.
Mr. Schnur was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Philipsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as parts manager for the Former Zulick’s Chevrolet/Cadillac and was a 1946 graduate from Butler High School in Butler.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Schnur and two sisters, Donna Sarver and Nancy Daye.
Mr. Schnur is survived by two daughters, Judith E. Schnur and Sharon A. Bloom, both of (Chester Hill) Philipsburg; a son, John F. Schnur and his wife, Billie of Williamsport; a sister, Jean Sloan of Colorado; and a brother, Richard Schnur of Butler. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Cody Bloom and Macy Bloom.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
