CLEARFIELD – A Morann man accused of simple assault and reckless endangerment after a domestic incident had his preliminary hearing continued by Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Randy Lynn Reams, 47, of Morann has been charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. Reams’ preliminary hearing was continued until 10 a.m. Feb. 26, 2014 at the CCJ.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 4:35 p.m. Oct. 6, state police were dispatched to a domestic violence incident on Railroad Street in Woodward Township. Upon arrival to the scene, the victim was getting ready to leave with her granddaughter; Reams was standing on the front porch. State police requested that the victim stand by the patrol unit while they interviewed Reams.
During the interview, Reams told state police he was at the bar when his wife showed up, resulting in a verbal confrontation over bills. Then, both left the bar and went to their residence, where they engaged in an argument. Reams told state police he parked his vehicle against that of his wife, so she would not be able to leave their residence. He said when he went back inside his wife ran around to the back door, where he shoved her down to the ground, as she attempted to punch him.
When police interviewed the victim, she related she’d gone to the VFW in Janesville to find Reams. She said they “exchanged words” and she told him about her plans to leave for her mother’s. When she left she didn’t realize Reams had followed her. When she pulled in at their residence she exited her vehicle to get her granddaughter out. At this point, the victim said Reams bumped and pushed her vehicle with his own while his granddaughter was still inside.
According to the victim, she started to yell at Reams, and he backed up. When she went around her vehicle to get her granddaughter out of it she said Reams acted like he was going to run her over with his vehicle. When trying to unbuckle her granddaughter she said Reams struck her in the face, which knocked her down. As she tried to stand up, she said he pushed her to the ground again. When she told Reams she needed in their residence she said he jumped onto the porch and blocked the entrance.
As a result, the victim told state police she ran to the back of the residence, where she was met by Reams, who had gone through the residence. She said he shoved her down off the porch after which she ran back to the front of their residence. She said she got in her vehicle and called state police. At the scene, state police observed that the victim had suffered injuries, such as scrapes and bruises to both forearms and legs. State police didn’t observe any injuries on Reams.
