HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Corbett has nominated the Honorable Patricia H. Jenkins, currently a judge for the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County, to serve as judge on the Superior Court ofPennsylvania.
“I am honored to nominate such an outstanding judge to the Superior Court,” Corbett said. “Jenkins’ extensive legal and judicial record gives me great confidence that she will continue to serve Pennsylvania with honor and distinction.”
In addition to her 20 years of service as a Delaware County Court judge, Jenkins brings a wealth of legal experience from the private, public and academic sectors.
As a partner of Kassab Archbold Jackson & O’Brien, Jenkins was admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Superior Court of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, Courts of Common Pleas of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
As a professor of paralegal studies for both Widener University and Villanova University, Jenkins instructed students in litigation specialization and property law.
Jenkins previously served the citizens of Delaware County as solicitor for the Delaware County Department of Human Services, where she represented the County of Delaware in hundreds of hearings annually in all facets of state and federal litigation.
“I thank Governor Corbett for his nomination and look forward, upon confirmation, to the opportunity to serve Pennsylvania as judge for the Superior Court of Pennsylvania,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Albright College, a juris doctorate degree from Dickinson School of Law and a master of laws degree in taxation from Villanova University School of Law. She is currently a member of the Delaware County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges.
The Superior Court was established in 1895 and is one of Pennsylvania’s two statewide intermediate appellate courts. Cases before the Superior Court are usually heard by panels of three judges sitting in Philadelphia, Harrisburg or Pittsburgh, but may also be heard en banc by nine judges. The Superior Court often travels to various locations throughout Pennsylvania to hear cases.
