DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Board of Supervisors approved its 2014 budget at its meeting Monday. Its budget totaled $8,856,500 and didn’t include a tax increase.
However, the township’s water rates will increase in the upcoming-year. Starting Jan. 1, 2014, water rates will increase from $10.75 per 1,000 gallons used to $11.55 per 1,000 gallons used.
The township has hosted the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) representatives for the last week. They have been inspecting the township’s flood claims. As part of the process, the supervisors voted on an Agent Resolution for the five fire departments, so that they could file their own independent claims to FEMA and PEMA.
