CLEARFIELD – The familiar sound of the Salvation Army red kettle bells have started in Clearfield.
This year’s Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign officially started Friday and will continue through Dec. 24. Bell ringers will be at JG Wholesale Grocers, Big Lots, Ollie’s, and the Curwensville Food Liner. In addition, bell ringers will be at Wal-Mart beginning Nov. 29.
This year the Salvation Army’s bell ringing goal is $40,000, stated Captain Sharon Harford, corps officer of the Clearfield Salvation Army. She added, “We need all of that and more to be able to meet the needs of the Clearfield community.”
The Salvation Army’s campaign serves two purposes. The first, Hartford stated, is to provide Christmas Assistance in the Clearfield area; the second is to raise money to meet budgetary needs for the upcoming-year.
“It is vitally important that we meet our goal for this upcoming-year,” she stated. “In addition our Christmas fundraising campaign is three-pronged, consisting of kettle donations, mail appeal and walk-in donations. All are needed to meet the needs of the community in 2014.”
To contribute please drop your donation into any red kettle or contact the Salvation Army at 119 Byers St., Clearfield. Bell Ringers are needed and interested volunteers may Contact Harford at 814-765-4981 for information.
