Methodius Cyril Starcovic, 76, of Lanse, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born July 28, 1937 in Grassflat, he’s the son of the late Stephen and Anna Adamission Starcovic.
Mr. Starcovic was a member of the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting. He was also a member of the Clarence American Legion, the Grassflat Moose and the Snow Shoe VFW.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years as a chief petty officer. He also worked for 20 years with K&J Coal Company, where he served as the safety director.
He was married to Joan Ahlberg Starcovic on July 16, 1960 at the St. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Winburne. She survives in Lanse.
Mr. Starcovic is survived by two daughters, Therese M. Foushee of Baltimore, MD and Tina M. Wayland her husband, Bill of Katy, TX and one son, Timothy J. Starcovic and his wife, Robin of DuBois.
Also surviving are a sister, Helen Matsko of Medina, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Christopher Starcovic, Kaila Barger Hamilton, Sara Starcovic, Shaina Foushee, Lauren Barger, Bryce Barger and Kaitlyn Foushee; five step-grandchildren, Kendra Edinger, Cody Learish, David Wayland, Amy Wayland and Jimmy Wayland; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Adian and Landon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he’s preceded in death by brothers, John, Steven, Edward, Michael, Joseph, Andrew, George and Cyril Starcovic and sisters, Mary Kolivosky, Pauline Sinclair, Margaret Veres and Anna Starcovic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting, with the Father David A. Perry Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the St. Severin Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drifting.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside on Wednesday.
