CLEARFIELD – Seventeen DECA members from the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center traveled to DeVry University in Fort Washington on Oct. 11 to participate in the DeVry DECA Days Mock Competition.
Students participated in several workshops and were able to get a feel for competition by participating in a mock role play. In a DECA role play, students are given a case study situation and have a short time to prepare a presentation, which gives a solution to the problem in the case study.
Students go before a judge and assume the role in the case study and present their ideas. Judges then score the students based on several performance indicators. This event prepared the CCCTC students for their state DECA District 4/5 Competition coming up in December.
DECA is the only international student organization operating through schools to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising, management and entrepreneurship. Its purposes are to teach occupational proficiency and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free, competitive enterprise system. Ultimately, DECA strives to ensure the future of our world’s economy by providing qualified and well-educated future business leaders.
