H. Arnold Swales, 87, of Clearfield died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born Jan. 17, 1926, the son of Ernest and Catherine (McMuldren) Swales.
He retired from the Sears and Roebuck Store of Clearfield in 1987 after 44 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
Mr. Swales was a member of the John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 of the Clearfield American Legion.
He’s survived by a son, Gregory Swales of Penfield and a daughter, Deborah Northrup of New Hampshire; two grandsons, Timothy Burris of New Hampshire and Andrew Swales of DuBois; one great-granddaughter; and several nephews.
He was the last member of his generation and preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeannette E. (Rowles) Swales, who died on April 7, 2011; two brothers, George and Ernest Swales; and a sister, Mary Collins.
Honoring Mr. Swales’ wishes, there will not be any public viewing or visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
