Clearfield Elks Lodge Donates to Community Organizations

CLEARFIELD – The 25th annual High County Arts Fair’s season came to a close Tuesday night with the fourth annual Clearfield Elks Distribution Dinner.

For the fourth year, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 540 distributed its proceeds from the arts fair as donations to community organizations.  This year 23 organizations benefited from the S.B. Elliott Park event.

“We get as much as 8,000 to 10,000 people at S.B. Elliott Park,” said Elks Past Exalted Ruler Joe Waroquier.

District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Lisa Schroeder spoke at the dinner.  She touched upon the history of the club, which was founded in 1868, as well as upon the mission presently undertaken by the Clearfield Elks.

“We are currently the third largest provider of scholarships in the United States,” said Schroeder. She added that the Grand Elks Lodge was proud of the Clearfield Lodge’s past and continued accomplishments.

“For the last 114 years, [the Clearfield lodge] has had active participation and provided charitable aid,” said Shroeder.
