HARRISBURG – Pennsylvanians will be able to find information about state agencies and services faster and more conveniently on the commonwealth’s portal, www.PA.gov, Secretary of AdministrationKelly Powell Logan announced yesterday.
The new PA.gov has a more powerful search engine, displays seamlessly on any screen size and works on touchscreen devices.
“The new PA.gov makes it easier than ever for citizens to connect with state government,” Logan said. “People want to be able to go to our Web site and find the information they want right away. They also want websites that they can access on the go from their tablets and smartphones. The new PA.gov delivers on both.”
Additional new features include a directory of social media offered by state agencies, and the ability for users to share online content on Facebook and Twitter.
The new PA.gov was developed by PA Interactive, a subsidiary of NIC Inc., the nation’s leading provider of official government Web sites, online services and secure payment processing solutions. Currently, 28 states partner with NIC to deliver innovative solutions that help reduce costs and increase efficiencies for agencies, citizens and businesses.
In the recent 2013 Best of the Web Awards by the Center for Digital Government, 10 of the 11 winners and finalists in the State Portal Category were NIC states.
“We want to transform the way that Pennsylvanians interact with state government from standing in line to going online,” said Logan. “We look forward to working with PA Interactive to redesign the rest of the commonwealth’s websites to better serve our customers – the people of Pennsylvania.”
