DUBOIS – The DuBois-based state police investigated an incident Wednesday, which involved a woman who was scammed out of a large sum of money.
The woman had property listed for sale on Pennswoods.net. Further, someone showed interest in wanting to purchase it and sent the victim a money order for five times the amount of the property.
The victim was directed to cash the money order and then mail the additional money back, which the victim did. The money order, state police said, was found to be fraudulent and couldn’t be processed.
The victim is now responsible for the full amount of the money order. Area residents are urged to be responsible and make wise decisions, state police said.
