Lavetta K. Bartley, 87, of Clearfield died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Mrs. Bartley was born Jan. 31, 1926, the daughter of C. Carl and Edna Rachel (Knight) Putt. She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School in the class of 1943.
Mrs. Bartley had been employed by the Clearfield Area School District, working in the cafeteria.
In her earlier years, she was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher and a leader of music for children. More recently, she was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, where she was also very active for many years.
She had participated in various card clubs, NON, XYZ and had been a cub scout and girl scout leader.
She’s survived by two daughters, Marilyn Barger and Margie Cowder, both of Clearfield; a son, Donald Bartley and his wife, Barbara of Clearfield; four grandchildren; Kimberley Paradisi and her husband, Eric of Manassas, VA., Kelly Maney, Angela Weed and Shannon Hoover, all of Clearfield; three great grandchildren; Ashley, Curtis and Carly; a sister, Edna Wilson of Philipsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bartley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde A. Bartley, whom she married April 20, 1949 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and whom died Sept. 24, 2003; two sisters, Mary Ralston and Helen Bean; and a brother, Harold Putt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Randy Willis officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., of Clearfield and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.
