Howard R. Brown, 84, of Houtzdale died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
He was the son of the late Howard and Cathryn (Fuge) Brown born Aug. 21, 1929 in St. Michael. He married his first wife, Margaret (Kline) Brown on Nov. 26, 1955 in Houtzdale; she preceded him in death Jan. 20, 1994. His second wife, Dolores (Schrock) Decker Brown preceded him in death April 27, 2003.
Mr. Brown was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was retired as a mechanic from the former General Cigar in Philipsburg.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Brown; five sisters, Maxine Murray, Viola Wojtowich, Delores Eckley, Gladys Davis and Irene Brown; a brother, John Brown; and two infant granddaughters.
Mr. Brown is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Cable and her husband, Terry of State College; two step-daughters, Doris Decker Solomon and her husband, Marv and Cheryl Zelenky and her husband, Dennis; a son, Raymond E. Brown of Houtzdale; three sisters, Margarette Conklin of Hawk Run, Norean C. Sanker and her husband, Gorman of Sheffield Village, Ohio and Judy J. Reams and her husband, Eugene of Osceola Mills; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Dannette Brown of Munson.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Robert Bruinooge and the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge co-officiating. Burial will be at the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Houtzdale.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service Wednesday at the funeral home.
