Dean C. Willar, 67, of DuBois died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at DuBois Nursing Home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of John M. and Lotus A. Willar.
He was married to Sherrie L. Willar, who preceded him in death July 30, 2004. He was an avid music lover and sports fan, especially the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He bowled on various leagues for many years in DuBois and Brookville and during this time he had several perfect 300 games. He also bowled in several bowling tournaments all over the United States.
He participated in several fantasy baseball and football leagues and loved going to Atlantic City, Salamanca and anywhere else he could find a casino. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in DuBois.
He is survived by his son, Patrick J. Willar, of DuBois; his daughter, Dawn M. Sheeder-Shaffer, of DuBois; his grandchildren, Landon DG Shaffer, Carson AA Shaffer and Antonio D. Willar, all of DuBois; his sisters, Phylis Klar and Donna Indre, both of Falls Creek; and his loyal companion, Quigley.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Deley and Lucielle Clarke and his brother, Eugene Yount.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with Father William R. Walker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in his memory to the Gateway Humane Society, P.O. Box 678, Falls Creek, PA 15840.
