PORT MATILDA – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to repair a bridge deck in Taylor Township along Route 3025 (Bell Hollow Road) will get under way Sept. 30. Crews will be filling the steel grate deck with concrete, which is expected to extend the useful life of the bridge for years to come.
The 36-foot bridge spans Sparrow Run about three miles west of Port Matilda. It was originally built in 1939 and carries fewer than 50 vehicles each day.
Local traffic will be able to access either side of Route 3025 during the deck repair work and will be able to travel around the work zone by using Route 3025 and Route 3040 (alternate Route 220).
Work is scheduled to last through Oct. 4. PennDOT Centre County Maintenance will perform this work, which is weather and schedule dependent.
Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
