Minor injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday on Railroad Street in Philipsburg Borough. Melanie D. Curtorillo, 56, of Philipsburg was traveling east on Pine Street in the right-hand lane. When she entered the intersection with Railroad Street there was a steady red signal. At the same time, Megan R. Gormont, 28, also of Philipsburg, was traveling west on Railroad Street and entered the intersection with a green signal. Curtorillo struck the Gormont vehicle, which resulted in major damage to both units. Gormont’s vehicle spun in the intersection and caused the rears of the vehicles to strike each other. Curtorillo continued through the intersection after impact and came to a final rest against the fence of the Penelec substation. Gormont’s vehicle came to a rest within the intersection. Curtorillo sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Both Curtorillo and Gormont were wearing seatbelts, and Gormont’s passenger was restrained in a child safety seat and uninjured. State police were assisted by the Hope and Reliance fire departments and towing services at the scene.
